Well, this is basically a page I'd like to start conversation that discusses some ideas to be more frugal. One of the topics that came up this week with hubby was: How to cut down on grocery budget? When we didn't live in an aptmt, it was easy to answer. I would make home made goodies and bread. And I think I need to get back to that this the month kids get out of school. We talked about what to do with kids when we they'd be out of school and us both of working. So I had my schedule adjusted where I gave myself off two days a week. Now these days will consist of many benefits. First and foremost I can have some time with my children. Perhaps get back to teaching them some homestead knowledge. Sewing, baking and organizing. The other benefits would be not using gas those days. I can work on my computer business. I can make lots of bread (with help from children) and freeze the loaves. I also in the past, have sold my cookies so many find a place where I can sell that for extra income.
Perhaps you are seeing where some of this will help the grocery bill. If you have the place and opportunity to buy some foods in bulk this will help you save. We had bought our wheat as berries and this can be stored for long periods of time. If you want good quality bread it will cost you at least $2.50 a loaf. If I make it it will only cost me about 65 cents. You can see how making things home made can help with the bill. We plan on buying a freezer so we I can also make up lots of meals and freeze them. There are some great recipe books on this on the market. I look forward on those days off that I can teach my children, esp my 10 year old little girl.Please share with me how you plan on saving and being frugal;
* If you've tried the freezing meals.
* How that turned out for you
* What recipes you like.
I Look forward to hearing from you all.
